Letter from Johnny Anderson Utah Private Child Care Association April 29, 2005 Dear Delegates, I am writing this letter in support of Senator Parley Hellewell. This Association has worked with Senator Hellewell on a number of issues intended to support and defend small business in Utah. Not only has the Senator proven himself a champion for sensible regulation and the rights of small business owners, he has shown himself to be a hard-working and important member of the state legislature. One example of his tanacity and influence happened on the last day of the legislative session in 2004. Child care providers were tracking a transportation bill that made it possible for centers to use safer school buses for transporting children than the typical vans that have been used in the past. The bill had passed the House but was left to flounder on the Senate calendar without a vote. We contacted Senator Hellewell and explained the situation and the importance of the bill. He was able to get the Senate President to revive the bill and give it an up or down vote on the floor. The bill passed with mere minutes remaining the session. Senator Hellewell is the kind of legislator who is not afraid of doing the right thing for Utah's business, children, and families and I strongly encourage your to support his re-election.
